Photo by Anna Lennox. The Reserve Women of Norths Volleyball Association have led the way being the only team to defeat Brisbane Volleyball Club (BVC) in Round 3 of the Premier Volleyball League. With a strong start by the team, the Reserve Women took out the first two sets in an aggressive fashion. Co-Captain Tomika Peasley was ecstatic with the 3-1 defeat. "After the third set blues, we refocused and came together with a positive attitude to bring down BVC, Peasley said. "We're looking forward to next week's challenge against the Dragons. BVC came out firing against the Reserve Men, never allowing them a look in the match. Missing two of their star leaders due to injury, the men couldn't compete with an aggressive and consistent BVC. "They (BVC) shot out to early leads and we could never catch up, Coach Matt Stamenkovic said. The A-Grade Women will use this week to reflect on their disappointing loss to BVC. The team came out firing taking the first without breaking a sweat against the strong competitors. Co-Captain Steph Ivessa was dominant through the middle but the team could not convert going down 3 sets to one. Changes to the starting lineup for the A-Grade Men saw them challenge a strong BVC side and take them to a five-set thriller. Former BVC A-Grader, Patrick Mead leveled the scores in the fifth set but the team could not compete against their kill hitting opposition. "Positive and aggressive starts by the boys were fantastic, but unfortunately we could not close out the match, Coach Matt Stamenkovic said.
